My dad was a soccer coach. I grew up going to his practices to watch him coach (and the good looking players with those even better looking soccer player legs, of course!) and going to important games with him, sitting on the bench with the team, cheering... I always wanted to be good at soccer, like my dad, like my brother... I am not good at it but I LOVE the sport, love to play it, love to watch it and love to be a ref (I did a referee course in Brazil).
Now, if you don't know, I have a strong relationship with Portugal. I was made there. Yes... I was! My dad has coached there for half of his life, he spent his last days in Portugal and his body rests there. My mom, brother and his family live there as well. Yesterday Portugal beat the Czec Republic for the Euro Cup. Not the final game yet, but I am confident they're gonna win this year - they have a Brazilian coach, hint! Portugal had never had such great results as they have now with Felipão as their coach. Last Euro Cup they made it to the finals, which is the furthest they had ever gone before. So this time I really think they have even better chances. Plus, they have THE best player in the world - Cristiano Ronaldo (second from the left in the picture), so... yeah, lets keep watching the Euro Cup on ESPN2, people! :)
Yesterday the two soccer teams I love the most from Brazil, Sport Club Recife and Corinthians played each other for the Brazil Cup. Sport Clube is from my home town and it's the team I also played water polo and swam for. Corinthians is from São Paulo and it is a great team. Sport Clube Recife won and now hold the title of BEST soccer team in BRAZIL!!!! YaY!

So... in an effort to honor my daddy who is THE BEST soccer coach and fan in the UNIVERSE, I joined TNI's soccer tournament three years ago. First year my team took third place. Last year we were the champions and this year we already started off great winning yesterday 8x1. ALL because *I* am in the team, of course ;)
Here I am ready to play, really looking like I know what I am doing, right?
I just LOVE soccer.
Somehow it brings me closer to my dad.
I imagine that he is watching me and helping me, because playing with him in mind really gives me the courage to work harder and play better. You know, trying to kick the ball and not other people's chins!
