Have you seen
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button? I loved it. But one of the most interesting things to me was how his adoptive parents put him to sleep in a drawer when he was a baby. I thought that was hillarious but I've had friends tell me that that was not a 'movie thing,' some people really had to use drawers or other creative sleeping arrangements for their babies.
After much debating if we'd go for the drawer or the shoe box, we actually decided to get a crib! And here is the one we chose, not only because the price was great but because I have friends who have it and really like it:
To see this and other cribs at one of my favorite places, Ikea, click

So now we need a mattress, right?
Which one do you recommend?

I love the crib! Wondering now if we can try and find you a cute crib set :P hehehe... Will have to talk to Aninha about it... So excited for your baby shower! It's snowing here... But should stop tonight ;)
I had a friend FREAKING OUT that she wasn't ready for her baby, because they didn't have a crib or clothes or anything. She wasn't due for months, but I calmed her down by saying that if he were born the next day, she could put him in a laundry basket with a few towels in the bottom, right? It's so true. They can be anywhere right at first.
That's a cute crib, and cheap! It doesn't have drop sides, but I never used mine, anyway.

It's a cute crib. I'm all about being extremely prepared for things so by the time I was 5 months prego with Lucas I already had all of his bedroom furniture. The only thing I wish I had with Lucas was a nice rocking chair. I did purchase a nice one from Costco but it did not recline. The one I have now reclines and rocks so I can nurse during the night and take a light nap while nursing very comfortably.
No ideas on the mattress, but of course you can do a pregnancy FAQs! I had fun answering the questions (I came up with them, and that was fun, too) and it's always interesting to read other people's thoughts, too. Have fun with it, and good luck in the next few weeks!
Our mattress was just a boring, normal one from babies 'r' us.
Love the crib. It's so crisp and clean. Our kids actually spent a good portion of their early sleeping lives in our bouncer. They were all reflux or very spitty babies, so it was the only way they'd actually stay asleep. Scarlett (turned 4 mo yesterday) is finally now sleeping in the cradle.
I also wanted to say, I ADORED the preggo pictures from a few posts back. You look just fabulous and they all turned out so great!
Well, Jadyn slept in her pack n' play until she was like 7 1/2 months old. (kept her in it till we moved and then was too lazy to set it up for a while) so I am clearly not a picky person for my tykes beds. Honestly though, they don't care! We got a pretty cheap mattress at Walmart for the crib and it's still in perfect shape even after Rylee using and abusing it for 2 years.
