Dirty Laundry

So, starting in November and going on till today...

One friend sent me a huge email saying how ungrateful I am because sometimes my status updates on facebook are "depressing" and that shows I am not grateful and I am "slapping Heavenly Father on the face" when I do that. Funny how not ONCE on that email did she ask how I was doing and why I seemed depressed...

Another friend laughed at my face when I told her I am want to train for a mini triathlon. What? You think I can't do it? I'll prove you wrong!

Another friend is constantly criticizing almost everything I do in regards to raising Olivia (education and feeding especially), and this is someone who doesn't seem to have read a LINE about child development and education.

Another friend only calls or texts me when she needs something. Hasn't heard a word from her that wasn't the need for me to do her a favor, and yet when I want to hang out she's "just so busy"

These are just a few small examples of the "amazing" people I seem to be surrounded by. Do I need to do some "cleaning" on my friends list? I think so!

I Did Not Ask Permission To Do This

But I am sure my dear DIL (dad-in-law) doesn't mind.
A couple of weeks ago I posted about a little heartbrake I am trying to recover from. My sweet, kind, loving and wise dad sent me an email that has been echoing in my head since then:

Dearest Kika;
Lost friendship is often like losing someone you love to death. It is natural to grieve. It is healthy to grieve. Only, with death, we know we will be reunited with that loved one we have lost temporarily. With a lost friend, however, there may never be sweet reunion, as well as the long sought closure we seek. I think it is harder for women to lose a friend than it is for a man. Women form strong bonds, tell each other secrets, cry together, laugh together. men do some of that stuff, but not much.
This I know, whoever this person is, she is aware of your pain and I am sure she reads your blog and has been monitoring it from time to time. She knows. This means that she is sadiscally witholding her friendship from you and feels justified for some reason. Your pain has been apparent, your need for closure is obvious. I don't know if you will ever get that from this individual. I hope you do. Plant your seeds of friendship in fertile ground. there are a lot of people that love you and appreciate you for what you are; beautiful, intelligent, funny, talented, kind, spiritual and warm. You're a wonderful mother and wife, and you have a strong love for the Lord. All your hopes and dreams will be realized in this life at some point. Be patient, be prayerful, be forgiving, be serving. The Lord is aware of your pains and burden. Call upon Him with great faith and He will lift them from your shoulders. Thank you for bringing Olivia into the world! She is a bright light that brings us all great joy!
Love,
Dad

Be patient, be prayerful, be forgiving, be serving.
That is exactly what I need to be! New Years Resolution? I hope so!
Thanks for reminding me, Dad. I love you!

Me is sadly still suffering from one of those: (and wanting to know...)

How long does it take you to heal from one of those?

Baby Shirley

She is so small, so warm, such an angel!
Baby Brighton Shirley is the daughter or my American sister, Annie Pinegar Shirley. I posted a few weeks ago some pictures from Annie's baby shower.

Brighton was born about 3 weeks ago and is the yummiest baby! Trevor and I went over for a quick visit two weeks ago and I couldn't get enough of her. What is it about newborns that just makes you melt? Their smell, their funny faces while they sleep, their tiny little noses... so lovely!

Congratulations, Annie! I love you so much, and I love your little angel! :)

This Is For My People

Sarah's father baptized Pedro's mother on his mission in Recife, Brazil, years ago.
Pedro was my Sunday School student in Brazil when he was about 14, before my mission and before I moved to the US.
His father was our stake president and was the one who was there to send me on a mission and to pick me up at the airport along with my ward. Awesome and caring family.
Tomorrow Pedrinho and Sarah are getting married!! Yes, he'll marry the daughter of the man who baptized his mother years and years ago. How cool is that?!

Trevor and I went over to Sarah's parents' house today to say hi and chat a little, since tomorrow will be such a busy day for everybody. It was so much fun! Last time I saw Pedro's parents was in 2003, my last visit to Brazil.

Here we are after a lot of updating, laughs, good memories and strengthened friendships:
Bride and groom will be married for time and eternity tomorrow in the Bountiful Temple, we wouldn't miss it for the world :)

ps1 -- Doesn't the wall decor look like it's part of my hairdo???
ps2-- I feel awful about being such a bad blog visitor! It's been busy couple of weeks but I will catch up on visiting you girlies on Sunday, promise! ;)

Time Might Go By But...

True friendship stays the same!
Yesterday was the "Batizado" event of Trevor and Marco's capoeira school. Many guests came from out of town and out of state and some of them are the friends on the pictures bellow:

David, Sarah and baby Alexander. I met them when I first got here and started doing capoeira, I would tag along with them every weekend to clubs and parties and had a LOT of fun! They are so great, honest and amazing friends! Even though we don't see each other often I feel that our friendship is one of those true ones, that stands the tests of time and distance.

Mago, along with Marco Greis (Trevor's partner) pretty much started capoeira in Utah, at BYU. Six years ago Mago (who's real name is Aaron, Mago is his capoeira name) and his wife moved to Colorado and also runs a capoeira school there. Trevor and Marco recently went to Colorado for one of Mago's events and now Mago came for the local event here. He is a lot of fun and I miss his wife (she couldn't come this time) - she is beautiful and an inspiration to female capoeira players.

And these are some of our capoeira students. I used to help teach the children and am SO PROUD of them each time I see them play! The Provo Capoeira School started in 2005 and it's amazing to see the progress that all the students have made. So fun to watch!

Something fun that happened this week was the last Mom's Night Out of 2008! I was the host this time and we went to Guru's... yummie! Here we are in the middle of good eating and great conversations:

And even though I KNOW it's annoying and dangerous and frustrating to drive in the snow and to have to clean cars and all that... can you deny that it's BEAUTIFUL to see a white world around you? I simply LOVE snow!!! :) Here I am yesterday coming from my friend Emily's baby shower in Spanish Fork. It was gorgeous outside!

Did you have a great weekend too? I sure hope so! :)

I Like Being a Busy Bee

First of all, thank you all for sharing your opinions and ideas about my last post! Let me tell you that this kind of interaction does NOT happen often and I have been VERY well treated throughout my eight years living in the USA. I love this place! :)
On to the post...

Thursday I went to MOM'S NIGHT OUT with my previous ward (I just love those girls!), we went to Mimi's Cafe and even though their Smores dessert was more than I could handle, spending time with the girls was fun!
Friday we went to the Canyons with Rachel and Benton and, again, we took lots of pics!

Today was my little sister in law, Maddie's baptism! Can she be ANY cuter? I'll answer that... NO! :) I LOVE my little Maddie!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------
I was talking to Trevor about my belly today! I mean, I have ALWAYS had a belly "thing" but now it seems also flat when I wake-up (around the time I took the pictures for the last post) and it grows more during the day. If I take a picture of my belly at night, it looks way different than it does during the morning. Maybe because I still sleep on my belly, baby gets smashed during the night and then during the day, with room to stretch, he/she shows him/herself more. Is that what's happening?? Anyway, hope you're all having a great day!

Tchau!

I wish I could fly...

... and maybe I would catch up with "the time", cuz time surely flies! At least that is what it feels like for me.
There have been a lot of "revolutions" at work and the changes are still not over, hence I shouldn't share, but lets blame work for my being tired and not willing to post. I will try to update you on what Trevor and I have been doing.

A week after our last camping trip, we went camping again with two other couples. It was awesome! This time we borrowed Rachel and Benton's air mattress and couple's sleeping bag so it was a LOT more comfortable. On the next morning we hiked Stewart Falls, here are some pictures:

On Saturday Trevor had a jiu-jitsu tournament and he placed 3rd. Here he is with the only person he lost to, and mind you that this gorilla is 45lbs heavier than my superman. Dang!
ps - how hot does Trevor look with that beard? I'll help you... VERY HOT!! :)

That evening we hiked up Provo Canyon (near the Squaw Peak road) with Jordan and Lindsey and took some cool pictures. Both Trevor and I LOVE the Fall colors! Aren't they beautiful??
Then on Sunday I had dinner with my friend Emma and her twins, along with another good friend Anne and her husband Dallas, and it was simply delicious! Emma made chicken stroganoff (spelling??) and Anne made Brazilian Tapioca for dessert. Tapioca in Brazil is completely different than that puddin thing you see here, and I would say it's a thousand times more delicious... but I am biased :)
Monday was my boss Jason's birthday and here is a pic of our department together after singing Happy Bday and eating the best cupcake I have EVER had, brought by his wife Danielle.

And there you are!

Pregnancy-wise, all is well. I will be four months on Friday and have been feeling great! Lazy, of course, but no health concerns. I have been doing my prenatal yoga dvd and that helps me feel very relaxed - and sore! :)

Hope you're all having a great week!

Namaste :)

Hibernation... over!

Sorry I have been absent for so long. Been checking blogs regularly but too lazy to post. Here is what Trevor and I have been up to since the last post:
On the weekend after Father's Day we drove up to Idaho Falls to be present at Trevor's mission companion's wedding reception. It was a fun drive, and not as long as I expected. I slept over at my friend Helga's apartment and Trevor slept over at her friend Anselmo's apartment - they both live in Rexburg and go to BYUI, hence the housing rules of no opposite sex sleeping over. Blah. On Sunday morning we were driving back and "Bear World" was on the road so... yah, Trevor couldn't resist. It was really cool after I got used to it and realized I was in no danger of being eaten by one of them. We got to drive right next to the bears and watch cute little cubs being bottle fed. Makes you want to have one of those as a pet!
On August 18th we went to the Jack Johnson concert. I simply love his songs, and, lets face it... he's a hottie! The show could have only been better had it been on the beach. We carpooled with Rachel and Benton, and there met up with Helga, Mariana and her boyfriend, Emma and Stace. It was a blast! Minus the second-hand pot smoking. he he he Another thing that is going on... there have been some changes at work and my department decided to get together at Tucanos on Monday to celebrate being together. Needless to say, Tucanos was fun! It was the first time I let myself go and tried different kinds of red meat - I am not a red meat lover and it usually makes me sick but that day for some reason, it was yummie to my tummie. :) Here is my department with our boss, "dad", at the head of the table:

This last weekend Trevor went to Colorado for a capoeira event/training (I don't have any pics of that yet) and I represented him at a bbq with some of his mission friends. Yes... more food. Food, friends, a game of croquet... pretty good Saturday after all :)
So that is it!
Susie I will do the tag thing tomorrow ok?
And I will be more creative with the postings from now on. ha! believe THAT! :)

tchau!

Oh Love...

A friend from my home ward in Brazil, and daughter of a previous Bishop, Nathalia, got married yesterday. Here are some pics of her beautiful wedding reception:

Isn't she beautiful?

The parents Sonia and Herbert, the happy couple Scott and Nathalia

And to think I taught these two Sunday school when they were teenagers. Brothers of the bride, Nicholas and Phillip. I'm getting OLD!

Yummie!!!

I helped decorate the car. And off they went on a cruise!
Wishing them an eternity of happiness!

Memorial Day: Week of Memories

My friend Helga goes to BYUIdaho but she came down last week to hang out. Here, me, her, Talita and Katie after doing what girls do best: SHOP AT THE MALL :)

On Friday Night we went to a place called Central do Brasil (2600 West 4700 South in SLC) where we had yummie Brazilian pizza (yes, with corn, boiled eggs, etc, the works! = yummie!) and watched a Karaoke competition. it was awesome! In the picture, Anne, Helga, Liliane and me. :)

Friendly table. Dallas & Anne, me & Trevor, Helga, Marco & Desiree, Liliane & Brenan

Ain't we pretty! :)

Trevor ALWAYS makes fun of Helga and I because we ALWAYS take a picture blowing kisses EVERY time we hang out. It's our "typical" picture. Trevor just wishes he looked as cute as us blowing kisses! :)
